Biodiversity Offset Assessments
We have a proven track record of managing development whilst maintaining and restoring biodiversity. Our staff include specialists in planning and implementing biodiversity offsets in QLD and NSW and at the Commonwealth level (EPBC Act).
In QLD we can identify offset requirements, assist in the preparation of offset applications and prepare Offset Delivery Plans. We have planned and assisted our clients in implementing offsets throughout QLD for impacts on threatened species and their habitats, regional ecosystems, essential habitat and in particular, koalas in SEQ.
JWA assisted our client in securing the very first Environmental Offset Protection Area (EOPA) under section 30 of the QLD Environmental Offsets Act 2014, which also formed part of the first marine plant advanced offset to be registered in the State.
Our staff also include accredited assessors to apply the Biodiversity Assessment Methodology (BAM) in NSW to determine applicable biodiversity offset credit obligations in accordance with the requirements of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Regulation 2017. We can prepare Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports (BDARs) and have assisted our NSW clients to satisfy biodiversity offset obligations throughout the state.
